Letterpressed Business Cards, Pt. 1

I have new business cards! I letterpressed them at home using the L Letterpress printing platform by Lifestyle Crafts. Pretty much everything creative I do involves Lifestyle Crafts products in some way. Yes, I do work on their product development team, but I also happen to love using their products after hours. They make my creative life so easy and happy.

I made two versions of my business card. One is for my blog, Copper Top, to hand out at social media events. The other is more straightforward for when I find myself in other professional business and academic settings. I designed both in Illustrator and had Lifestyle Crafts create the letterpress printing plate through their custom printing plate program

I used Lifestyle Crafts new Thick Letterpress Paper. You can see below the difference in thickness between the regular letterpress paper they offer and the new thick paper. It doesn't look like much, but when printed it look and feels awesome.

I rolled out about a pea size amount of black ink on my ink base and brayer (above), then added adhesive to the back of the printing plate (below).

This is the L Letterpress printing platform. The printing plate goes on the clear lid and the paper is placed on the base of the platform.

I can't live without my ink guide strips. They act as tracks so that you get a perfect coating of ink every time. Mine are well loved and used.

A roller tool is required when letterpressing with the L Letterpress pritning platform. I'm using my Evolution craft tool, also from Lifestyle Crafts.

Tada! Easy and quick. I love them. Look for a post later this week and see some additional details I've added to my business card.
